Hereunder, I´m going to write about a teacher that I had in basic education, who inspired me to follow this path of education in the area of mathematics. She only taught me for a year, which was enough to change my perspective, her name is Fresia Quezada. Currently, she is a retired teacher; approximately 7 years ago she stopped practicing her profession. Throughout her career, she worked in municipal schools, she believed that municipal education should be free and of the same quality as that of private schools.
When I joined the establishment where she worked, apart from teaching classes, she was also head of PTU (Pedagogical Technical Unit). At first, I didn´t like her at all, she had a very strong character, it seemed like she was always angry and her voice was so loud that it always seemed like she was screaming. I remember that it bothered her that they interrupted her while she was teaching classes, because she found it disrespectful. I remember that one day I had to go to the room where she was beacuse they sent me to ask for the class book, she opened the door with a bad face and gave me a lecture about de rudeness of interrumpting for something that could wait, but What was i going to say to her! They had only sent me.
Then, when it was my last year at that school, she was destined to be my math teacher, and at that moment I understood why it bothered her so much to be interrupted.
Her classes were not only focused on mathematics, she also mixed it with language and she was interested in the path we wanted to continue. She was one of the teachers who trusted in my abilities, she encouraged me to participate in extracurricular activities and not to link being good at mathematics with studying engineering. She showed me the world of pedagogy and she was the only teacher I had who spoke of pedagogu as a career that she recommended.
Today, I still have contact with her, and I feel that it is my responsability to fill the shoes that she left in that establishment.
I love your history, I also have so much teachers I admire and for them I study my carrer.
